Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Girlfriend, Fiance, and love of my life.

Many things in my social life have happened so quickly over the past week.  Positions, opinions, and priorities have changed.  Mistakes were made.  Forgiveness was given and we are where we should be.  

The end result is a happiness that I have not felt in a long time.  A belonging that you can only now in you heart.

On with a new chapter in my life.  The story has it's ups and downs so far.  It will be exciting to see what's next.

Update: Apr 24, 2008

Well, a little over 2 years have come and gone.

The gf is gone and I'm done with myspace.  Both happening at about the same time is some what of a coincidence.  The breakup spurred on my disgust for myspace and the fact that I don't do anything there and I never check.

Really the only thing that hasn't changed in the 2 odd years is that I'm still in the same apartment. But that might change within the next year. Rising rent is just not cool.

Anyway, we'll see what happens in the next 2 years.

Hey all,

About a month ago, the unthinkable happened.  Phil (Me) got a girlfriend.  I am still baffled as to how this happened.  Well, it's been going good for the past month and looking forward to another month.
Now for the introduction.  Everyone this is my girlfriend :iconmesektetra:  And, no, this is not just an online thing.  This is a real life relationship.  I did introduce her to DA, tho.

Now that I had gotten her onto DA.  She kept buggin' me about getting a MySpace account.  So, I finally gave in. So here it is my MySpace profile:  <a href=[link]>MortalSphere</a>

Now on to the other stuff....   I'm getting an appartment.  This is very exciting 'cause for one I won't be living with the parents anymore.  And I'm not sure what the other reasons are.  You can help me fill those in.  So, anyway.  I should be moving in a couple of days here.  I don't know how long I'm going to be with out internet.  So, I'll see you all when I get to the other side.
